Notes¶
Service Bus future: Victor posed the question if we could/should replace RabbitMQ usage in MF/Risk with our common Azure Service Bus (ASB) interface in platform. The logic being that this will be required regardless if we stay on Service Bus or move to RabbitMQ (or another alternative). JD had a strong opinion that if we were to do that, we would never move away from ASB. However, we could see that we do not seem to have any big issues with ASB currently. Regardless, to come forward on this matter, we need to gather data, so we can know. What is the latency overhead of ASB vs RabbitMQ (avg, p99 etc.), What is their respective costs, What is their stability.
Tech backlog: As a second topic, we looked at Roman backend thoughts, on the path to transform it into a general backend tech backlog / roadmap. All new items discussed since Roman left were prioritized and estimated (small/medium/high in both categories) to get a rough ordering of them. Notably we thought that improving how we handle source control of Stored Procedures (SPs) should be of high prio since it would greatly simplify reviewing SP changes. Everyone in backend has access to the document, feel free to take a look, and any comments or suggestions are welcome!
